Chart Check [Hot 100]: Rihanna Ties Elvis Presley Record With Latest Hit

Published: Wednesday 29th Jun 2016 by Rashad

After surpassing King of Pop Michael Jackson‘s and Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin‘s respective Hot 100 records it now appears Rihanna has another musical monarch in her sights – King of Rock & Roll Elvis Presley.

Indeed, the pop princess – whose Rih-lentless onslaught of chart-toppers has seen her lay waste to many-a-Billboard chart stat of the genre’s legends (see: Madonna, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, Whitney Houston, and more) – is set to to add Presley’s historic accomplishments to her list of casualties.

With the ascension of her Calvin Harris-crafted release, ‘This Is What You Came For,’ to the top 5, we see what Rih really came for is Elvis’s wig and record.  Details below:

Via Billboard:

Calvin Harris’ “This Is What You Came For,” featuring Rihanna, enters the Hot 100’s top five, rising 6-5.

Rihanna scores her 21st top five Hot 100 hit, tying Elvis Presley for the fifth-most top fives in the chart’s history, which dates to Aug. 4, 1958. (Notably, Presley’s career launched two years before the chart began.) Here’s a look at the acts with the most top five hits, as Rihanna breaks out of a tie with two icons, each with 20:

Most Top Five Hot 100 Hits in History

29, The Beatles
28, Madonna
26, Mariah Carey
24, Janet Jackson
21, Elvis Presley
21, Rihanna
20, Michael Jackson
