Future may have to pay out double digit millions if his former label boss succeeds in suing the ‘Lay Up’ rapper – who allegedly breached his recording contract.
More details below…
A1 Recordings boss Rodney Ramone Hill (aka ‘Rocko’) is suing the turn-up titan for breaching his contract with the label. He specifically asserts that the Hip-Hop star is violating a deal in which he was supposed to produce six albums under the label.
While the ‘Jumpman’ lyricist is signed to A1, he also has a distribution deal with Epic Records. And it’s this undisclosed side deal struck between Epic and Future that’s the reason the A1 boss is seeking compensation.
Hill claims the contract between Future and the Sony Music imprint is one that sees him cut out from earning income from the rapper’s discography.
The suit, filed in a US court, alleges that Future sought record advances from Epic, advances which were not analysed by Hill. Interestingly, the A1 head believes he’s owed 25% of commissions from the label’s advances, while also claiming 20% of the rapper’s own earnings from commercial revenue, such as advertising and touring. A 360 agreement of sorts. In total, Hill estimates his that he is owned up to $10 million.
Clearly, legal drama with Ciara isn’t the only mess the ‘Dirty Sprite’ disher has to worry about.
