Keyshia Cole‘s time at Interscope came to an end following the release of her Hip-Hop kissed set ‘Point of No Return.’
Since then, the gifted entertainer has vowed to continue her career as an independent artist and, before the release of her first label-less album, seems to have secured the support of the boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Press play to peep his short, telling and explicit conversation with his good friend Jason Lee below…
Though we respect Keyshia‘s decision to push for success away from the label system we think that her brand of radio friendly R&B may suffer away from it.
Contrary to many a misinformed stan, Cole’s time at Interscope saw her soar as one of its highest-selling artists and, believe it or not, often saw her albums move more units in their opening weeks than sets launched by Rihanna.
With this in mind, we feel Cole may be making a serious mistake by stepping away from the resources record labels come equipped with.
This is why we have been hoping she would find a home in SME’s Columbia.
Home to John Legend, Adele and Beyonce, the label’s handling of credible Adult Contemporary acts like Cole is impeccable.
Here’s hoping Keyshia makes the right decision in the coming months.
