With the summer upon us, Fantasia brings the heat with her scorching new album ‘The Definition Of…’
Released yesterday, the set serves as the American Idol alum’s fifth studio effort and follows 2013’s ‘Side Effects Of You.’
Wondering what the star’s slick mix is projected to sell first week? Well, wonder no more because the answer awaits after the jump…
According to Hits Daily Double, the Ron Fair produced project is on course to open with first week (pure) sales of 28,000-32,000. The estimate rises to 29,000-34,000 when factoring in the sales-plus-streaming measurement.
With the week’s only new competition coming courtesy of DJ Khaled (67k-72k SPS) and Jake Owen (35k-40k SPS), Tasia should be looking at a top 10 placement. Even when factoring in the usual suspects that make up the tally each week (Drake, Beyonce).
*************
Though not the loftiest number, the figure places the critically praised LP on par with the commercial debuts of most R&B releases over the last year.
Though we’re still ascertaining where ‘The Definition’ ranks on our list of Fantasia releases, we feel it a fine addition to a discography that will no doubt be appreciated as the years progress.
Hopefully, it’s gifted a lengthy promotional run.
