Lifetime‘s love affair with music biopics continues. And this time, it’s Britney Spears forming the focus of their latest TV movie.
Details below…
After polarizing efforts based on the lives of Aaliyah and Whitney Houston, Spears is next up for the the cable network.
By no means in its infancy, the project (tentatively titled ‘Britney’) is officially a go; with Natasha Bassett has been cast in the role of the singer and Leslie Libman directing. Production begins September 19th in Vancouver, with a view for a 2017 premiere.
Lifetime describe the two-hour flick as the “tumultuous true story of the icon’s rise to fame, fall from grace and triumphant resurrection.”
It’s been confirmed that the Asylum Entertainment production will not shy away from Spears’ relationships. Hence, explored will be her romances with Justin Timberlake, Jason Alexander, and Kevin Federline.
The news comes on the eve of the release of the performer’s ninth studio album ‘Glory’ (due this Friday).

Such productions can oftentimes be woefully wack (see: Aaliyah) or surprisingly spot-on (Whitney). It all hinges on the team behind the scenes. For what it’s worth, none of the names involved with this have been part of the aforementioned.
