Britney Spears is whipping up buzz for her new album ‘Glory.’
With the set’s August 26th release rapidly approaching, the Pop titan seems keen to give the masses a taste of what to expect ahead of its arrival.
‘Clumsy’ is the latest cut to receive the release treatment and follows official single ‘Make Me’ and promo track ‘Private Show.’
Helmed by Talay Riley, Alex Nice, and hitmaker Oak, the song awaits below…
As the third track serviced, ‘Clumsy’ re-affirms that the album has a specific and cohesive sound. For, sonically, it mirrors the breezy, edgy and (somewhat) minimalist direction offered by both ‘Make Me’ and ‘Private Show.’
Sadly, it also struggles with similar drawbacks too.
Because, while it boasts fresh production and a memorable melody, the song kinda misses the mark.
It drives on with no clear destination, with the post-bridge being a particular a non-event. What’s more, the lack of actual chorus is irksome and takes away from what could have been a much fuller listening experience. There’s all the makings a bop, but not enough connecting of the dots.
In many ways, ‘Clumsy’ plays like a shiny BMV with no gas. Pretty to look at (or, in this case, hear), but ultimately purposeless.
