The campaign for Iggy Azalea‘s ‘Digital Distortion’ album was seemingly derailed when lead single ‘Team’ tanked on the charts.
Though received favourably by critics, the cut didn’t fare well commercially; it only managed a #42 and #62 peak in the US and UK respectively.
Now, after a brief break (during which she served as a judge on ‘The X Factor Australia’), the femcee is gearing up to re-start the push for the LP.
Details below…
Speaking with PEOPLE magazine, she asserted that her break-up with Nick Young caused the delay. She added that her new single status is driving the revised version of the album in a “sexier” direction:
“I just kind of felt like, on top of me needing the personal time, then feeling, ‘Okay, I’m single now. I want to have sexy songs. I want to say stuff about being single.’
I obviously didn’t write that on my [original] album because when I wrote it I was about to get married … I don’t want to go and promote my album and get asked about my relationship that has just crumbled.” [Source]
The feature touts a January 2017 arrival for ‘Distortion,’ which suggests a new single may be nigh.
Given the many dramas Iggy found herself in, it’ll be interesting to see whether she’ll be able to shake of the backlash.
