Despite two decades in the spotlight, the masses ‘Can’t Stop The Feeling’ of infatuation with Justin Timberlake.

Beyond the success of said song, the enduring adulation for the 35-year-old was also uber apparent upon the release of his last album ‘The 20/20 Experience.’

Released in 2013 after a seven year hiatus, the double-disc LP (which arrived in two parts) went on to sell 6 million copies worldwide and birth a bevy of hit singles.

Naturally all eyes are on whether JT can do it again – especially without the benefit of a lengthy spell out of the limelight.

For much of the year, he’s been baking an answer in the lab with longtime collaborators Timbaland and Pharrell. He’s also added Max Martin – with whom he produced much of the ‘Trolls’ soundtrack will – into the mix.

During his interview feature, Timberlake talked about the status of the record and what fans can expect.

His words await after the jump…

On His New Album:

“I wouldn’t say [my new material] is the antithesis of ‘20/20,’ but it does sound more singular. If ‘20/20’ sounded like it literally surrounds your entire head, this stuff feels more like it just punches you between the eyes.”

On The Project’s Core Collaborators – Pharrell, Timbaland, and Max Martin:

“Tim is a sound junkie, the same way Pharrell is a song junkie. And then Max is like music’s Morpheus.”

On How Fatherhood & Marriage Has Changed His Career:

“My life has changed and is changing. So it’s important to discover that there’s work you can do where you get more time with your family. I wouldn’t go on tour next week, because I wanna be with my son. I wanna be with my wife. What does touring even look like for me now? It’s such a luxury to be able to make those decisions: to be able to think about how you could do the work you used to do in a different way. As men, we’re always taught at a young age to be a man and have your priorities in order. And you get to a point where you’re like, ‘It’s not about “being a man” — it’s about fulfillment.’ Which is a totally different thing.”

Pharrell On JT’s New LP:

“Songwise, I think we’ve got a good solid six that are like, ‘Whoa, what was that? Play that again.’ I would pay Justin a huge compliment to say he’s just discovering who he is now.”

For the biggest pop stars in the world, the place where they have the most trouble is honesty. It’s hard for them to know that the beauty of a record, the sweetest spot in the song, is where they show vulnerability. Because there’s a formulaic sort of vulnerability, like, ‘Baby, I can’t sleep without you …’ and that’s not really it. But if you’re able to really screenshot your own vulnerability, and frame it properly, and color-correct it, then it becomes something that every human can relate to. And I think Justin is in the place where he’s mastering that right now.”

***************

Hmm.

We’ve learnt many a time to listen more to the music than the pre-hype, as more often than not the latter proves more compelling than the former.

In Justin’s case, we hope he cooks up something on-par with the almost automatic level of buzz he commands. Because ’20/20′ was far too middle of the road to have garnered the acclaim it did. Same with ‘Can’t Stop The Feeling.’

Your thoughts?

    • LmfaoHoe November 1, 2016

The devil is a lie ! there are some white guys out here aging gracefully though but JT damn sure ain’t one of them. To think back in 2002 there was a poster that had me with his curly hair n abs ….but not anymore.

Idk what it is but after what he did to Janet, and how he just threw her under the bus when the media was attacking her went back to being a straight white boy all a sudden like (Justin Bieber) after the 2013 fiasco then to use Black Culture (musically ) to benefit himself as some “innovator ” that should go to Tim n Pharrell.. it just made me not like him as a person, especially when it was said he used my girl Cameron Diaz to start his acting career then just left her smfh.

    • BOOBIE November 1, 2016

Why are you making up entire scenarios in your thick a$$ head ho? He was in movies before he met Cameron Diaz and you say it as if she was a top actress pulling in movie after movie. Gurl bye.

That Blk culture crap is played. He’s a great artist.

People are going to look back and say how this generation over-hyped Justin Timberlake like we do with our previous generation in regards to Elvis. The only reason why people keep holding him up on this pedestal is because there is a major void with men in music since the women are completely dominating at every angle right now. Not to mention he had to step on some women (Britney, Janet, Cameron) just to get this “status” he has today.

    .
Translation: Tim gives me my edge and Black sound, the same with Pharrell is going to steal, I mean recreate some MJ track because he’s great at taking sounds from the past and pasting it on a new album. I think he still have some more rejected MJ tracks from 2001. Max is going to give me dumb lil pop songs since my last album didn’t have many radio hits.
    .
And why are y’all calling 20/20 a double disc LP when it wasn’t, they were sold separate. Part 2 was clearly left over tracks from part 1. Don’t get mad at me, he was the one promoting part 2 as a whole new album and when it flopped, he tried to add it to the part 1. But goodluck tho, everyone is flopping.

      ?????

      You better speak that truth!

  10. BOOBIE November 1, 2016

He must be trying to get out of his contract by releasing all these albums in such a short span

  11. SMH November 1, 2016

Lol his last tour made $230 million, he won more grammys and managed to get a #1 single off a kids movie. And this site still tries to discredit him. But if certain other artists posted a pic of themselves tying their shoes they’d get praised for it. It’s safe to say this site has absolutely no credibility when it comes to judging artists. If TGJ was a record label it would be Murder Inc lol.

    • Truth November 1, 2016

      Girl stop.

  12. BOOBIE November 1, 2016

Yall keep calling JT an appropriator of black culture when he was raised in a predominantly black city/neighborhood…MEMPHIS TENNESSEE. lol. And I dont think its appropriation if he’s doing it well…which he has. What he’s done is not appropriation, yall need to do your research.

    • Truth November 1, 2016

      STFU.

      • BOOBIE November 1, 2016

        Lol typical.

  13. Sandra November 2, 2016

Justin was overrated and Robin was underrated. As far as i’m concerned Robin is the better and more talented artist. @0/20 was trash and so was can’t stop the music.
