Kelly Rowland Talks New “Uptempo” Album

Published: Sunday 22nd Jan 2017 by Sam

Kelly Rowland looks set to bring the tempo with her long-awaited new album.

The Destiny’s Child graduate turned solo Grammy winner has yet to release a body of work since 2013’s ‘Talk A Good Game.’ In the time since, she’s gotten married and had her son Titan Jewell. She’s also turned her attention to a slew of other projects in the TV, cosmetic, and literary arenas.

Music is still in the mix, she assures.

Speaking in a new interview, Rowland revealed that her upcoming material aims to dominate the dance-floor.

Head below to see what she had to say…

Chatting to the Lenny Letter, Ms. Kelly said of the as yet untitled LP:

It’s happy. I said I wanted a record full of up-tempos. A lot of my albums and songs have been slow, except for tracks like “Commander” or “When Love Takes Over.” I said I wanted this record to be happy because we need that right now, more than ever. That’s where my heart is.

Finally.

We’ve been harping on forever and a day about how much of a slay it’d be for Kelly to pick up the pace musically. As such, it’s great to hear that she’s doing exactly that.

For, while the seductive coos of ‘Motivation’ and ‘Ice’ delivered delicious results and definitely made sense at the time, she shines most – both as a vocalist  and performer – with high octane material.

She can really beast a stage when she wants to, something uptempos provide the perfect climate for. What’s more, with so many R&B acts all on the same minimalist, faux-90s wave, serving “dance-floor diva” would be a smart means of setting oneself apart from the pack.
