Carlos Santana: Beyonce’s Grammy Snub Was Justified Because She ‘Can’t Sing’

Published: Tuesday 14th Feb 2017 by Rashad

Legendary singer/songwriter/guitarist Carlos Santana is no stranger to Grammy sweeps as many remember when his massive 1999 hit, ‘Smooth’ (featuring Rob Thomas), swept the 2000 ceremony by winning 8 awards in one night.

It’s assumed his history with the golden gramophone is why his opinion on Adele‘s 2017 sweep (that saw singer Beyonce beat out for the top awards) was sought.  And, it’s that very opinion that’s landed him in some serious hot water with Bey’s beloved fan base, the #Beyhive.

Referring to the hitmaker as “a model with a mic,” Santana asserts Adele’s win over Beyonce was justified because she cannot “sing, sing” like her ‘Rolling in the Deep’ singing counterpart.  Ouch!

Get into the massive response inside:

“I think that Adele won because she can sing, sing,” Santana told the Australian AP.

“With all respect to our sister Beyoncé, Beyoncé is very beautiful to look at and it’s more like modeling kind of music — music to model a dress — she’s not a singer, singer, with all respect to her.”

“Adele can sing, sing,” Santana said. “She doesn’t bring all the dancers and props, she can just stand there and she just stood there and sang the song and that’s it, and this is why she wins.”

Twitter had a field day:

The backlash prompted Santana to take to Facebook to wield an apology:
