Lady Gaga has officially snatched herself a hit. A bonafide hit.
And Mother Monster will no doubt be thanking the Super Bowl platform for her latest chart touchdown.
Dive below for details…
Following an emotional offering of the song during her Super Bowl Halftime Show, ‘Million Reasons’ shot straight to the top of the iTunes US tally where it stayed for several days.
The exposure helped the song hit #4 on this week’s Billboard Hot 100, besting its previous peak of #52.
‘Reasons” commercial boom was spearheaded by a 1,334% increase in digital sales (149,000) and a 128% rise in US. streams (7.6 million). The track continues to build in airplay (15 million, up a sizeable 50%).
In scoring the feat, Gaga earns her 14th top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 and her 10th top 5 on the same tally.
It also becomes the most successful single to be issued from her latest LP ‘Joanne’ to date.
Lead release ‘Perfect Illusion’ peaked at #15.
**************
Yes, yes, and yes!
‘Million Reasons’ is entirely deserving, as is Gaga. So much so that we’ll forget that awful video.
Folk can be entirely too quick to count out authentic talent. As such, it’s awesome to see Ms. Germonatta still winning.
We nod our hats to her team, who have (by way of very smart strategising) engineered this moment.
‘Joanne’ is polarising, but we’re hopeful Gaga can squeeze out a few more chart hits this era. ‘Dancin’ In Circles’ remains delicious (and appealing to multiple formats), while ‘Diamond Heart,’ ‘A-Yo,’ and ‘John Wayne,’ all have some radio potential.
