Future stunned fans when he announced the surprise release of his fifth album, the self-titled effort ‘Future.’
A feature-less affair, the album not only led a pack of hip hop releases releases for the week, but also outpaced top-sellers from other genres to lay claim on the Billboard 200’s top spot.
Future scores his fourth No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart as his new self-titled effort starts atop the list, earning 140,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Feb. 23, according to Nielsen Music.
…more than half of its units were powered by streaming activity: 73,000 units (equaling 109 million streams of the album’s songs during the tracking frame). The rest of its units were comprised of traditional album sales (60,000) and track equivalent album units (7,000).
From the way things are shaping up, the hitmaking rapper is set to unseat himself on next week’s Billboard 200 with his follow-up release, ‘HNDRXX.’ Until we find out for sure, tuck in below to see who joins him in this week’s refreshed “Chart Check: Billboard 200.”
