The unstoppable singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran is on his way to the top of the Billboard 200.
Good news for his set ‘Divide‘ below…
The album is expected to nab the biggest opening number of the year as industry insiders predict it is to shift around 425,000 units (sales and streams) by the end of the current chart tracking week.
How said insiders arrived at this prediction?
Initial forecasts are based on a range of indicators, which include pre-order sales of the album, first-week performance of comparable albums, streaming activity of an album’s lead single (or singles), radio trends for the set’s songs, media exposure of the artist and so forth. In general, you can best guess an album’s debut-week sum once it has had a couple of days of availability.
The last album to open with more than 300,000 units in a week was J. Cole’s ‘4 Your Eyez Only’ which touched down with sales of 492,000 copies.
