Tamar Braxton and her husband Vincent Herbert have been hit with a lawsuit…from Sony Music Entertainment.
Herbert is being sued for $3 million after he allegedly refused to pay money he owed Tamar’s former label.
Back in 2013, the business signed a deal with his Streamline Entertainment company which saw them pick up an equal share in its profits and pay him an advance of $5 million.
Part of this deal required him to submit two new artists to the label per year, and pick up the right to recoup the advance from payments due to Herbert from Interscope Records (home to his artist Lady Gaga).
That isn’t all. For, the deal is also to thank for $1 million Tamar was given to record and promote her album ‘Love & War‘ and the $100,000 a year salary he was to earn for his troubles as Executive Vice President of A&R.
So, what went wrong?
Around October 2015, Herbert allegedly notified Interscope to cease making payments to Sony, which resulted in Herbert being paid monies owed to Sony, to recoup on their advance. The label has only been paid $1,528,315 from the $5 million advance.
Sony filed suit demanding Herbert return the remaining $3,471,685 owed.
All of this may explain Braxton’s departure from the label and defection to eOne.

Sony gave Vince an advance for Tamar, they want the rest of their money back. This isn’t the first time Tamar and Vince have reportedly owed people money. If I loaned someone $5 Million, I’d want all of it back as well.
Come on now, you can’t be that much of a stan, that you don’t get that the music industry is a business. I can’t believe people are up here bashing Sony for doing what they would do in the same situation.
