The R&B prince August Alsina has revealed that he is battling a serious illness with the help of his good friend Jada Pinkett-Smith.

The brave star opened up about his battle with liver disease in order to raise awareness for the issue and to offer an explanation as to why his career has stalled since the release of his debut album ‘Testimony‘.

I have a liver disease. My autoimmune system is fighting itself. The reality is that I’m sick all the time. I don’t really like to talk about it because I’m not looking for anybody’s sympathy. Don’t treat me like I’m a f*ckin’ cancer patient — because I’m not.

He is still currently signed to Def Jam and continues to write and record new music.
