Citing a source close to negotiations, Mrs Carter is about to sign on the dotted line – for a whopping $25 million.
Beyond starring as Nahla (a wish expressed by director John Favreau), Bey has reportedly requested a clause (which appears to have been granted) that will see her create and curate new material for an Afro-Tribal inspired soundtrack. New songs would be recorded by her and old favourites from the original movie also featured.
Ever on her business hustle, the report adds that the soundtrack will be released via Bey’s Parkwood Entertainment imprint in conjunction with Columbia Records. It’ll also be supported by a full promotional run – including interviews (something the singer has shunned for years) and music videos.
Other names currently tied to the live-action flick include Donald Glover (as Simba) and James Earl Jones (Mufasa).
‘Lion King’ was originally released in 1994 and is one of the highest-grossing animated films of all time, generating almost $1 Billion worldwide. $968.5 million to be exact.
Its music score is also notable, especially for Elton John‘s now iconic ‘Circle Of Life.’
Could Beyonce be about to unleash a new classic of her own? Stay tuned.
