Dua Lipa’s ‘New Rules’ has risen to #1 in the United Kingdom.
Awesome news below…
The song was built by Caroline Ailin, Emily Warren and Ian Kirkpatrick and impacted the charts on July 21st to support her self-titled debut set.
Elated, her camp had this to say…
Dua’s talent has never been in any doubt. A #1 single at this stage in the campaign is a hugely significant milestone on the road to her becoming a global pop star. It’s the result of three years of hard work and creativity from Dua, Ben [Mawson] and the team at Tap Management, and the whole of WB Records.
Quite interestingly, the song peaked at #83 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Slay a bit Dua!
She worked so hard for this. And to get a -#1 on her SEVENTH single is amazing.
She has HUGE appeal and still so young. If she plays her card rights she could become one of the major pop stars. She’s definitely one of the more insteresting singers from the younger crop (Selena, Demi, Camila etc)
I’m rooting for her. Her debut album is very solid.
When you can’t dance, you attempt to walk like a model. Great song, great message, but this song it too dann hot for her to be so stiff. A new rule of my own….Dance if you’re gonna do Dance Music. Otherwise, you’re only doing it because you want a quick hit. Again, the song is dope, but I do not like this video.
This is the new generation. They don’t dance or do anything. They chew out generic dance songs that really sound nice for a while, but are forgotten after a year. The days of real and iconic pop stars that sing and have a hard choreography are gone. That is one of the mayor facts why Beyonce is as big as she is. She is old school. B**** puts on a show and sings live and is not just standing there singing over a David Guetta
On her way to being a global star yet her song peaks at #83 in the world’s biggest music market. Is this another Little Mix / Rita Ora?
Actually, there were times were labels gave their artist some time to evolve and to get a major hit. There are a couple of examples where global stars became big with their third album or so. Little Mix are quite big in UK/Europe and Rita Ora…actually I don’t get how she is still relevant
Well deserved, the song is amazing and the video is cute.
Pop is in good hands with this one, her debut album it’s really good and she’s also good live. Hope the US can see the quality of this chick.
This song is dope! Thanks to TGJ for shining some light on her cause this is the first song I’ve heard from her….hopefully it catches on in the U.S. too
This chic is dope and her voice has so much edge ,I like that there is something edgy about her not just the pretty,s*** thing we are used to and she still has a lot of time to grow #congrats Dua (I believe the song would grow more in the us seeing a as she is actually a uk native)
Love her.
Love this song and it speaks to me so personally. I listen to it so that I don’t go back to a toxic relationship.
