New Video: Miley Cyrus – ‘Younger Now’

Published: Sunday 20th Aug 2017 by TGJ Staff

Miley Cyrus addresses her radical rebirth on new single ‘Younger Now.’

“No one stays the same” she sings on the track, which is lifted from the Pop star’s like-titled new album (due September 29th).

Having lived out her rebellious “Urban” era oh so publicly, Cyrus seizes the song and its visual to open up about her reincarnation.

It’s a smart play given the backlash she received following comments she made in a Billboard interview in which she expressed regret she felt after the ‘Bangerz’ era. This later erupted debate about her race privilege and appropriating black culture for a gain in success.

Watch Cyrus re-imagined after the jump…

Cool, creative, and well-executed.

‘Younger Now’ has racked up ample views since its premiere, but in comparison to the attention her music received during her previous cycle, one could argue her hiatus has shaved off some of her popularity.

Served up as this campaign’s second single after ‘Malibu’ (which peaked at #10 on the Billboard Hot 100), time will tell if this becomes her next big hit.

I´m surprised to say Malibu really grew on me and have been enjoying it a lot this summer. First time ever for me with a Mylie Cyrus song. I actually love her message in general at the moment. She also sings better than what I thought, she does really good covering Dolly Parton´s “Jolene”. A pity the attention seeking era that preceded this. Although I suppose it was a really well planned thing to go on to do other things and make people care about things she actually seems to care.

That was the thing with the Bangerz Era – she was always underestimated as a singer. She always had a unique voice that not everyone may like, but she has always been a good singer. Even her live versions of wrecking ball were really good. And she once had this performance of a song in that hanna montana movie on idol, which was great as well.

I really do appreciate the song and the video which is very interesting with all the references to her past musical acts. She’s growing up musically and lyrically speaking, it’s really nice to listen and to see. I’m impatient to get this new album now.

I really enjoyed Malibu, and while I was hoping for an uptempo, she showed vocal growth with this one. I will be streaming it.
