It’s that time of year again.
As the temperature cools, talk of the Super Bowl Halftime headliner heats up.
And according to new reports, organizers are in talks for a double-act: Justin Timberlake and JAY-Z.
Dive below for details…
Per Hits Daily Double, informed sources say discussions are underway for the duo to perform together during Super Bowl LII (52) at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis on February 4th 2018.
The pair previously collaborated on Timberlake’s 2013’s ‘Suit & Tie’ and again on Jigga’s ‘Holy Grail.’ They also set out on the mega-selling Legends of the Summer Tour. All in that same year.
And now it seems they’re gearing up to regroup on the grandest stage of them all.
The benefits are plentiful for all.
Jay is riding off the success of current album ‘4:44’ and the ‘Bowl would no doubt extend its commercial life-cycle, as well as give a gargantuan lift to his back-catalogue – which largely lives on his streaming service TIDAL now.
As for JT, the follow-up to ‘The 20/20 Experience’ is expected around the time of the Halftime and, as an established seller, this could really tip the RCA set into the stratosphere.
Here at TGJ, we also make the observation that recent years have been dominated by females ala Beyonce, Lady Gaga, and Katy Perry. Thus a Justin and Jay combo not only re-aligns the gender balance, but presents two titans with authentic chemistry.

Though this looks sensational on paper, we can’t ignore the elephant in the room. After the fall-out from the wardrobe malfunction, why the hell is “Justin Timberlake” being considered when Janet Jackson was blacklisted?
There’s no denying that JT is one of music’s last stage-blazers and will inevitably put on a major show. But – if indeed he’s being considered – there’s entirely too much bias at play. And it could be argued that Jay is only in the mix to take the edge off the sting from critics.
For us, the only way Timberlake’s involvement won’t be problematic is if Janet is involved. Somehow. Then we’d be able to close-book on that whole fiasco. If not, then let the think-pieces pour all the way in.
In the meanwhile, what are…
