Chrisette Michele Reveals She Has Been Dropped By Label / Vents On Social Media

Published: Saturday 28th Oct 2017 by Sam

“They dropped me.”

These are the words of Chrisette Michele, who has announced that she’s been let go by her record label – just days after releasing a new single.

Doing away with the silence most artists greet said news with, she took to social media to not only reveal her predicament, but to vent about it too.

And let’s just say that she’s making a direct correlation with the backlash she received for performing at Donald Trump‘s inauguration.

Her words below…

Via Chrisette Michele:

If social media wanted to pull me down, I guess they succeeded as it pertains to Capitol & Caroline records.

I complete an entire album and my label decides to walk away from me. Capitol records. I was quiet for a few days… I go into the studio and literally poured out my heart and soul and the label decides to walk away from me?

It’s one thing to be a strong black woman, it’s another thing to be a strong black woman who has to fight against the worst odds. I went from someone being revered and loved to facing putting out an album in the worst climate of my musical career.

No victims here. I get it…. But absolutely human here. How hard can you try to break someone? How hard can you try to ruin someone? How much hate do you need to spew to show me you want to see my demise?

It’s anyone’s guess why the label axed her, but surely we’re not the only one’s surprised that she’s surprised about her public standing?

In taking “that” gig, she immediately ostracised herself from a significant portion of her own audience and angered them in the process. She’s entitled to do as she chooses, but the fact is that there are ramifications attached to that. And it appears as if she’s discovering that now.
