Kelly Rowland Song Streamed 126 Million Times On Spotify

Published: Wednesday 18th Oct 2017 by David

Criminally underrated by some of Kelly Rowland‘s younger fans is her debut studio album ‘Simply Deep.

A cool and halcyon collection of Pop-leaning R&B tracks, the mature album is most appreciated by Destiny’s Child fans who’d enjoyed the album ‘Survivor’ a year earlier in 2001.

Today, fifteen years after its unveiling, Deep’s tales of self-discovery, first loves and deep losses continue to move its admirers who have taken to Spotify to support it.

The result? A monumental achievement with the ‘Past 12′ songbird.

‘Dilemma‘, the song on which Rowland is supported by the rapper Nelly, has been streamed 126,637,703 times as of this month…her biggest solo hit on the platform to date.

The smash hit samples Patti Labelle‘s ‘Love, Want and Need You’ and helped Kelly shift over 2 million copies of ‘Simply’ in pure sales and pump a large sum of money into Warner Chappell‘s pockets as they own 42.5% of the song’s publishing.

Why do you think Dilemma was such a smash?

    This site is so wack! As much as I like Kelly, you know d@mnn well this is a song she is featured on. Why write a misleading title? This is Nelly’s song, featuring Kelly R. You do the same for a song Beyonce is featured on. You make misleading titles as if it is her song like you did a couple weeks ago. Unfortunately when it’s a Rihanna song featuring an artist like Drake, you made the title, “Drake goes #1 with Work”. You will continue to lose followers to this site unless you do better.

      lol, dragged them to the PITS

    • More Than A Woman October 18, 2017

      Does the song appear on Kelly’s album or does it not? The song started with her As the feature but became a co billing. Watch the interview in the story….. dunce.

      @Truthhurts

      This song was also featured on Kelly’s album Simply Deep. Spotify wasn’t even around or for that matter popular when this song was released! Nelly is talented but he has not been relevant since Spotify became a thing! Kelly has managed to stay relevant since disbanding from DC! We all know why these streams are high & it ain’t cause of Nelly! It’s bcuz Kelly! She does have a huge following overseas and a solid US urban/pop following! Stop down playing Kelly like y’all always tend to do with her when it comes to any and everything!

        You can’t say that nelly is not part of the reason why this song is being streamed. His legacy is just as responsible for the song as she is.

        Maybe you should check the facts @ISpeakFacts …on Spotify Nelly has 6.72 million monthly listeners and is ranked 278th in the world….while Kelly has 1.61 million monthly listeners and is not even ranked. So its pretty clear (according to THE FACTS) that Nelly is a majority of the reason this song has as many listens as it does not Kelly. Sorry…not sorry.

    I’m waiting for Kelly Rowland’s music to match her level of influence. She stays book but her music is consistently weak.., with the exception of ‘Stole’ which possessed everything she needed for a workable formula moving forward. Her voice is also consistently awful live.., it’s a shame because she does have something to offer. I’m just yet to see what that is. She really should have something to say artistically at this stage of her life tbh, otherwise give up the ghost.

      @Teflon Boy

      4 years ago she released one of her best albums musically Talk A Good Game. There is nothing wrong with her music! It’s her single choices to lead her projects!

      • Bam October 18, 2017

        This is true, single choice has always F-Ed Kelly and her projects.

    • erica October 18, 2017

      I disagree in her early solo efforts yes her voice was weak but that girl has came A long way from than have you heard her when she pay tribute to Mariah or when ever she performs ‘when love take over” that girl sings now & is always good!! she even perform tina turner ” river deep mountain high” and it was awesome

      • Teflon Boy October 18, 2017

        Ok, maybe I should re-phrase. Kelly can sing but her apparatus doesn’t respond well to nerves and isn’t reliable in terms of vocal intricacy outside of the studio (and often in the studio if there isn’t time to extract what she’s capable of). Love Takes Over isn’t vocally intricate tbh, it just requires a vibrato-less belt on the ‘Over’ which any club singer worth her salt can do. The best Kelly has sounded in my opinion is on the ‘live’ BET performance of Motivation, which was mined if we’re gonna be 100%.., I didn’t care though, I’d rather hear a great Kelly Rowland pre-record than a poor Kelly Rowland live vocal.

      • ISpeakFacts October 18, 2017

        @Teflon Boy

        Kelly has come along way vocally & performance wise since her younger days. It’s so obvious u don’t like her for whatever reason! First it’s her music now it’s her singing! Boy bye! Gone wit ya hatin awhsss!

      • Teflon Boy October 18, 2017

        Lol accusing me of hating simply because I can see that her high brow aesthetic does not match her low brow artistry. For example, look at the image TGJ have used at the top of this article.., name a Kelly Rowland song that complements such an image. Her image and personal narrative better suits an ‘A Seat At The Table’ type of release. Instead her audience has to suffer through songs such as Commander and David Guetta-esque bops. If this was Nicole I’d allow it but Kelly is selling herself short and you know it.

      • Yonce Liquor October 18, 2017

        lmao @Teflon Boy

        Girlll, I dont know what is you talking about. I got your point when u said Kelly should of be delivering way more than what she had delivered before. I love both girls, but I aint hear no damn song on ‘A seat at a table’ that holds a candle in front of commander even tho it was a David Guetta-esque song as you call.

        A seat at a table is a good album, very well culturally-acclaimed cause it was full of cultural messages unlike TAGG, but sonically, the “Talk A Good Game” album>>>>>>”A seat At A Table” album

    • Erica October 18, 2017

      Yeah you definitely hating on Kelly all the stuff you said doesn’t make sense she perform “honey” from Mariah Carey & held a on no club singer cans do that hater !!!

      • Teflon Boy October 18, 2017

        Lol I’m not hating, it’s just rare for me to hear her at her best.., if it works for you though then I’m happy.

      • Ispeakfacts October 18, 2017

        @ Teflon Boy

        Instead of calling you a hater I’ma call you a undercover fan bcuz that’s really what u r!

      • Teflon Boy October 18, 2017

        And you’d be right lol I am a fan which is why I want the best for her.

  4. Gee October 18, 2017

    Ok the reason why dilemma was a smash was because Nelly was still major force in music as was DC and anything either parties touched was a multi platinum smash. As for right now everything surrounding Nelly even though its negative it’s bringing interest to his music.

  5. Caleb October 18, 2017

    There needs to be some serious fact-checking on this blog post. This is not a solo song and “Simply Deep” was certified Gold for sure but “2 million pure sales”?! Is this a worldwide estimate or something?

  6. DanYiel Iman October 19, 2017

    She makes great music ? & sadly doesn’t get the respect vocally that she deserves!!
