Yesterday saw Pink unleash her seventh studio album ‘Beautiful Trauma.’
And with a full day’s worth of sales tallied, it’s become clear that the project’s opening numbers will be far from traumatic.
Full story below…
According to Hits Daily Double, the set (led by single ‘What About Us’) will comfortably open at #1 on the Billboard 200. It is on-course to premiere with:
300,000-375,000
[Sales-Plus-Streaming]
***********
290,000-340,000
[Pure Sales]
Should the set land within this region, it’ll serve as the fourth-largest debut of the year thus far. ‘Trauma ‘will also snatch 2017’s largest opening week for a female act. Additionally, it’ll be the star’s highest debut ever and her second Billboard album #1.
Some may wonder how the numbers are so high given the lack of preceding smash in the US [see: the #25 peak of ‘What About Us’]. Well, the LP is smartly being bundled with tickets for Pink’s recently announced tour.
Now, before the shade brigade rain on her parade, ticket holders still have to manually redeem their download. Hence, from where we’re standing, their desire to consume the music is on-par with those who bought the album standalone. Put simply, it’s a masterstroke move in a climate where sales are on the wane. Only a few power players can pull it off – and it’s apparent Pink is one of them.
