The R&B belle is gearing up for a (hopeful) return to the charts with new single ‘Say Less.’
To aid her cause, the singer has called on Ty Dolla $ign, a name who’s proven potent in adding a midas touch to potential hits.
In a bid to whet appetites ahead of the track’s imminent arrival, the former first lady of Murder INC has unwrapped its official cover. Check it out above.
‘Less’ is the first taste of the 37-year-old’s latest studio album, her first since 2015’s ill-fated ‘Braveheart.’

Her rollout is on point. You wouldn’t even know a big label wasn’t backing her based off looks. She really looks gorgeous here.

I like it! Gives me the same vibe of her 2008 record, “Good Good”. I LOVED that song and the accompanying video. This cover is very reminiscent of that particular single. I sooo want Ashanti to WIN, but realistically, amongst the climate of music and R&B specifically, she does not stand a chance of pushing units or seeing mainstream chart success. WE WANT HER TO, but the generation that bought her first two albums are all now grown with adult priorities that do not include PAYING for music. It’s unfortunate, but true. And I wish she would NOT have added Ty Dolla Sign or any other trendy rapper to her records. The formula is TIRED!

At 37 this is not the sound or image she should be giving off. One of the major pitfalls of black female pop artist, they refuse to mature and grow with their audience. Ashanti’s core fan base are now in their 30’s, exactly who is she trying to appeal because we’ve heard the clip and it can’t be a mature audience. And the new kids are clueless to who she is.
Girl grow up.
Ashanti has never been pop. More so HipHop, she’s keeping up with the changing times to this genre of music & having fun. As a fan we do not believe she has compromised her sound. We appreciate her giving us versatility, but sticking to her sound.
