Scribbled in history books for some good and not-so-good reasons, 2017 brought with it some of modern music’s most memorable moments. Now, as the year draws to a close, TGJ is reflecting on our favorite moments that rocked – and to some degree reshaped – the Urban and Pop musical landscape as we know it.
In a year filled with shocking allegations, one of the most jaw-dropping accusations came thanks to a group of people who claim Grammy-winning singer Usher gave them the incurable sexually transmitted disease herpes.

Over the summer, reports surfaced the singer/songwriter allegedly paid $1 million to a woman he infected with herpes years ago.

From there, events around the alleged payment turned into a media circus as additional accusers – male and female – came forward.

For most of the weeks that followed the initial report, the identity of the accusers had yet to be revealed. That changed in early August when Quantasia Sharpton – under the advising of famed celebrity lawyer Lisa Bloom – held a press conference to detail her experiences with the singing superstar.
