Being one of the best-selling artists in history certainly has its perks. Ask Eminem who, when seeking female collaborators for his ‘Walk on Water’ single, had his pick of the industry’s top leading ladies.
Who did he choose? None other than Grammy-winning chart-topper Adele. But, by the time the single hit the airwaves, it was Beyonce‘s voice blaring from speakers.
How did this come to be? Find out inside:
In a recent interview with ThisIs50, producer Denaun Porter, who worked on Em’s new album ‘Revival’ (in stores today), said (around the 2:30 mark in the video) Adele was the rapper’s first choice for the ballad. Unfortunately, due to issues with her voice (as we reported here), she couldn’t commit.
“The first person I heard [who was wanted for the song] was Adele. I think something happened with her with her voice, and she couldn’t do it. […] But then it got to them using Beyonce. My mind was already there. There’s only a couple people that could pull that off.”

The song managed to peak at #14 on the Hot 100 but quickly fell down the charts afterward. Do you think it would’ve fared better if Adele was featured and not Bey?
