Camila Cabello is strutting ahead to the January 12th release of her debut solo album.
Aptly christened ‘Camila,’ the set is preceded by global smash ‘Havana’ and buzz cut ‘Crying In The Club.’
Two new songs join the pre-release mix today – ‘Never Be The Same’ and ‘Real Friends.’ Both of which were made available
Clearly, Team Camila are going going for the same approach as they did with ‘Havana’ and ‘OMG.’ Drop two songs and see which naturally catches (instead of forcing a single from the get-go).
For us, ‘Real Friends’ has most appeal.
The production, though sparse, is inherently catchy. Especially when paired with the infectious melody. Lyrically, it’s arguable that she’s “going there” (see: Fifth Harmony split). Something which will be somewhat satisfying for those bored of the media-trained answers both parties have been giving since their acrimonious split last year.
Whether she has another ‘Havana’ on her hands remains to be seen. But, if she’s angling for one, ‘Real Friends’ is the best bet. It’s memorable, relatable, and serviceable for radio. Pushing this is a no brainer.
