This week, the dynamo divo dropped the ‘Finesse’ remix with Cardi B as a single and it’s not only slaying out of the gate, it’s slaying the competition.
Just ask Justin Timberlake.
The Pop force unleashed ‘Filthy’ as the first single from hotly anticipated album ‘Man Of The Woods’ and it’s currently trailing Bruno in almost every major music market. Especially in the States.
Indeed, as at writing, Bruno is #1 on US iTunes, with JT at #2. And the lead ‘Finesse’ has is growing considerably, while ‘Filthy’ is already receiving red updates.
Sure, it’s early days and their respective projects are in different stages (see: one at the start, the other nearer the end), but the signs point to a more favourable result for Bruno.
In any case, the days and weeks ahead ought to be all sorts of interesting.
Bruno dropped on a Thursday, hence he will likely debut on the next issue of the Hot 100 with just 24 hours worth of sales+streams. Hence, it’s doubtful that he’ll premiere big.
Justin, on the other hand, adhered to the traditional Friday release strategy. Therefore his opening will benefit from a full week’s worth of data.
This sets the stage for a showdown mid month, when both songs will square up sale-for-sale and stream-for-stream. Who do you think will come out on top?
For now, the true winner sees to be James Fauntleroy – who penned both songs!
