Another day, another Cardi B record.
As we’ve reported several times over the course of the last few months, the rapstress – thanks to the successes of her singles ‘Bodak Yellow’ and featured roles on the Migos cut ‘Motorsport’ and G-Eazy‘s ‘No Limit’ – has seen her name penciled in Billboard history books repeatedly for a number of accomplishments including…
- 1st (and only) female rapper to have a solo Hot 100 #1 hit this century
- 1st Latina to hit #1 since Shakira‘s ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ topped the charts in 2006
- 2nd female rapper in history to top the Hot 100 charts with her official debut single (solo)
- 2nd woman of color to have a #1 hit this decade
- Only ‘Love & Hip Hop’ act to score a top 10 hit since the show’s inception in 2011, let alone a #1
- Longest unaccompanied run at #1 on the Hot 100 by a female rapper [click here to read more]
- First and only rapper to see her first 3 charting releases simultaneously in the Hot 100’s top 10 [click here to read]
- …and many more
Now, with the first full week sales and streaming of her Bruno Mars collaboration, ‘Finesse,’ behind her, Billboard is able to reflect the true popularity of the cut. Let’s just say the move has added yet another historical highlight to Cardi’s growing list of wins:
Blasting to #3 on the Hot 100 (as we reported here), now the Music Bible reports…
Cardi B becomes the third act — and first woman — with five of the top 10 hits on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart in a single week…
Among all acts, Cardi B ties Drake and Kendrick Lamar for the most concurrent top 10s. Drake has done it eight times (all in 2016) and Lamar has managed the achievement once, in 2017. Among women, Cardi B was previously tied with Beyoncé, with four — a feat Cardi B matched in the previous two weeks (Jan. 13 and Jan. 6).
