Justin Timberlake may not be rustling up the charts with his new music, but he’s certainly rustling feathers.
While promoting new album ‘Man Of The Woods’ on Beats 1 radio, he made a comment about Las Vegas residencies that probably won’t resonate well with fans of former flame Britney Spears.

After discussing the rigors of the road, as well as the challenges attached to prepping his upcoming tour, host Zane Lowe asked JT whether he’d ever consider Vegas – as the likes of Spears and more recently Lady Gaga have. His response was:
“It feels like you’re planning your retirement [laughs]
The person that did Vegas better than anybody was Prince. He was like “I’ll just show up when I show up and I’ll play 10 shows a year. It’ll be me because I’m the greatest that ever did it”

TGT is twisting his words here. The interviewer asked her (Justina Timberfake) how she feels about Vegas and she responded that it feels like planning a retirement. That comment has nothing to do with anyone else. Also, since when is it a negative thing to “plan your retirement”? To me that means Vegas is just a money grab so why not?

That’s a misconception. Boyz II Men, Celine, Backstreet Boys… all of them are still putting out new music and they were touring worldwide before Vegas called. They aren’t even thinking about saying farewell.

Probably it was retirement plan 10 years ago but today it’s not perceived that way.
If you want to take a break from all the travels and moving around, vegas can be a good place to make your money, have a place for a few years and plan your next moves.
It’s the artist who decides what impact the residency will have on its career and not for others to judge.

Funny cause I remember how he hosted the monumental debut of Celine Dion first huge residency back in 2003 to national tv. He really wanted his name to be connected with that type of artist even so early in his career. Obviously she wasn´t retiring and she made Vegas what it is now. She decided to go after having the second best selling album in the world the year before. Vegas doesn´t have to mean that and has not meant it for a good 15 years now at least.
