Jessie J is currently in China and making her presence felt on popular show ‘Singer 2018.’
The competition pits celebrities against one another in a series of week to week sing-offs.
Tapped as the big “international” acquisition, the 29-year-old has been topping the table on each episode – the latest being no different.
And for good reason.
J blew the roof off the studio with a spirited rendition of Whitney Houston‘s ‘I Have Nothing’ – one that wouldn’t have been amiss during last year’s AMAs. But we digress.

We’re not quite sure what this show is, but if it’s adding to her pool of fans (and compensating her accordingly) then why not.
Our only wonder is what is the plan of attack is with her new music and album ‘R.O.S.E’?

I thought she just screamed, but when you listen….this girl can actually sing. Her image that has been marketed as the “white girl sounding black” is totally wrong. Market her in the Old School Celine/Mariah vein. And what her soar…… she is NOT Rnb and that’s why she does NOT sell. (Love the weave on her, finally a look she soars on)
My thoughts exactly ,she legit slayed it like SLAYED that performance.She has vocals give her the songs that showcase it I like that with her new album ROSE she has more stripped back songs but I don’t think that rnb land is doing her justice
Wow ? And haterz hate on this girl… True singers, with talent – despite all the vocal acrobatics and runs – can strip it down, and sing a pure vocal with clairity of voice like this.
Gaga did it with The Sound of Music, Sevyn did it with her live Whitney cover, hell even Fergie beasted it live with ‘Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas’ – these singers are for real with no smoke and mirrors. Some many of these children today – could never.
I need Christina to come through wit this clarity of voice – sadly, I don’t think she can anymore. No shade. ?
Christina did this kind of vocal on My Reflection. She refuses to sing without all the dramatic tones and do a Straight vocal. I wonder why…………………………

I always tell people she’s underrated vocalist…she’s a very technical vocal beast who don’t get her dues and her last album Sweet Talker was really good. Can’t wait for the new album Queen is still my mess tho

And what exactly were you not impressed with? ? Her weave? Heel height? Earring size? If you know anything about what singing is – you’ll know she nailed this, technically, stylistically and stage presence wise. Everyone is always saying she over does her runs on her own tracks but out of respect she didn’t make this song about her – she let the original arrangement shine and moved people in the process.
Exactly I wasn’t impressed really theirs a reason they didnt ask Jessie j to do the tribute she doesn’t have it.

Wow.., Just Wow? This was incredible. Despite being a technical beast, Jessie J’s biggest flaw as a singer is her propensity to do way too much. Which is a travesty as no one with as much vocal talent as her should leave you feeling irritated when they open their mouth. However, this stripped approach was everything her voice needed to shine. I can see Jessie J maturing like a fine wine.., less really is more with her.

I’m sorry, but real talk, Xtina’s tribute was pitchy and strained like a fat girl wearing a bikini from when she was 4 dress sizes smaller. Xtinas tribute = Issa NO. I fuxx with Xtina but that tribute she did was a struggle like catching pigs covered in baby oil.
I’m not really familiar with her, but I like her tone. She added her own originality in some places without ever trying too hard. She easily gets a 10/10 for this performance. It was excellent!
Jessie J just be out here slaying Whitney this week and Toni a few weeks ago. She doesn’t get half of the credit she deserves for her ability to sing.
