Sales Malfunction! Justin Timberlake Album Numbers Revised Down (Again) After Panned Super Bowl Performance

Published: Wednesday 7th Feb 2018 by Sam

Historically the Super Bowl, with its 100 million+ viewers, is considered one of the most powerful promotional platforms in the world.

However, in an unprecedented development, it’s actually having an adverse affect on the album sales of this year’s Halftime headliner Justin Timberlake.

As reported, initial estimates for the ‘Man of The Woods’ LP (which were already lower than anyone would have imagined pre-release) were revised down to 300,000. Yet, they’ve now dropped– again.

Details below…

According to Hits Daily Double, post Super Bowl, the project is now looking at a debut in the following sales region:

250,000-275,000

210,000-225,000

Ouch!

This is dismal on several fronts.

First, not in recent memory has any Halftime headliner actually been impacted negatively by such mass exposure.

What’s more, when placed in context of Justin’s past performance (see: 900k opening for ’20/20 Experience) and initial industry forecasts for ‘Woods’ (700k), there’s no escaping it – this is a disaster.

He “may” be able to salvage and save face with the growing success of ‘Say Something (ft. Chris Stapleton)’ and the strong ticket sales for his tour. But, there is a very palpable problem here: namely the disconnect between JT and the general public.

Any guesses as to why? Let us know…
