Despite lining up a long-list of new material for release in the coming weeks, Kanye West has reportedly severed ties with mega-manager Scooter Braun.
Full story below…
Via The Blast:
According to sources close to Kanye, Braun, along with music lawyers Howard King and Peter Paterno are no longer working with the star.
We’re told Kanye made an ultimatum to his top confidantes that they had to leave their respective businesses and become “In-house” employees for the Yeezy brand. Braun and the lawyers refused to abandon their other clients, and decided it was time to move on from Kanye.
We’re told Kanye’s been advised that cutting his team loose while he prepares to drop a ton of new music is not the greatest plan, especially considering the legal hurdles that come with putting out a new album. For his part, Kanye doesn’t think he needs music management him right now, and plans on going forward without a manager.
The report goes on to cite a source that says many of the folk who supported Yeezy during 2016 “breakdown” are now being pushed out and that there’s an overall concern for his present state.
It’s worth highlighting that the changes come just weeks after Ye parted ways with another of his longtime managers.

UPDATE: Kanye has just confirmed the news in the most “Kanye” way possible:

The timing is certainly…unique.
June is right around the corner, meaning so too is the wealth of new music he promised from himself and several of his artists.
Moving forward without management (should that indeed be his play) doesn’t fill us with hope. But time will tell how all works out.
