For the few who needed reminder that Janet Jackson still had “it” (even at 52-years-old), that notice was served at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards when the pop icon popped, locked, and dropped it all across the MGM Grand Garden Arena stage in Las Vegas on May 20 (click here if you missed it).
And, while the showing may have drawn its lowest viewership this decade (click here for ratings), those who did view the spectacle – namely Jackson performing a medley of her top hits – had no problem extending their praise for the singer to social media, streaming outlets, and digital sales forums.

“The 2018 Billboard ICON Award honoree, Janet Jackson, collected a 939 percent sales gain for the three songs she performed: “Nasty,” “If” and “Throb.”
Jackson wasn’t the only one reaping the rewards of a #BBMAs performance, however.
Among the tunes performed on the show: Ariana Grande’s “No Tears Left to Cry,” which nabbed a 27 percent sales bump; Camila Cabello’s “Havana,” which was up 101 percent; and Shawn Mendes’ “Youth,” featuring Khalid, which rose 274 percent. Salt-N-Pepa’s show-closing medley of “Shoop,” “Let’s Talk About Sex,” “Push It,” and “Whatta Man,” featuring En Vogue, combined for a 518 percent sales gain.
