This album chronicled an intimate piece of my young existence. It was the summation of most, if not all, of my most hopeful and positive emotions experienced to that date. I Loved and believed deeply in my community’s ability to both Love and heal itself provided it received the right amount of support and encouragement. Our world today, both complex and changing, is in need of the balance between moral fortitude and cathartic expression. I hope the Love and energy that permeated this work can continue to inspire change with Love and optimism at the helm.

I saw her live about 2 years ago. She was actually on time. But she sounded a mess. That beautiful voice is gone. Sad but true.
She has to be the only artist ever to tour on the back of a single body of work for two decades! Like, girl, go create something, let us know how you’ve grown!!!!!

let me begin by saying i LOVE ME SOME LAURYN. this album was my life when it came out…..still is.
But the show was……mediocre. and I believe i’m putting it kindly because i still am such a fan! show time was 6p. she didn’t come out til 10p. that alone just shows the respect and regard that she has for her fans that have sustained her for 20years. Add to that the fact that the voice is simply not there, no fan interaction. no appreciation for being there. She came out, went down her playlist, and was out.
