In an announcement made moments ago, ASCAP revealed that the ladies will be presented with the Golden Note Award during this year’s ceremony on June 21st.
All four members – Kandi Burruss, Tameka “Tiny” Cottle, Tamika Scott and LaTocha Scott – will be on hand to accept.
The ASCAP Golden Note Award is one of the most prestigious honors ASCAP bestows upon songwriters, composers and artists who have achieved extraordinary career milestones. Previous recipients include: Usher, Lauryn Hill, Ne-Yo, Mary Mary, A Tribe Called Quest, Alicia Keys, New Edition, Lionel Richie, Jermaine Dupri, LL Cool J, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Jay-Z and more.
Speaking on the honor, ASCAP President Paul Williams said in a statement:
“Xscape knocked us all out in the 90s with their powerful vocal harmonies on singles like ‘Just Kickin’ It,’ and ‘Understanding,’ and surprised absolutely no one as they went on to become one of the most prolific female R&B groups of all time. Decades later, all four members have gone on to individual success in music and on screen, and we are thrilled to recognize their achievements with the ASCAP Golden Note Award.”
The presentation takes place following the recent release of ‘Here For it’ – an EP issued by three of the group’s members (under the alias Xscap3).
In July, all four members will also take to the stage at the 2018 Essence Music Festival in New Orleans.
So proud of these girls, still my favorite album is traces of my lipstick ?
Traces was their best songs Jermaine Dupri could get their harmonies on point on that one he should be a recognized along with the group
Did they recognize Jermaine Dupri for an award
I’m glad they are singing again. This means we will have joyous songs, heartfelt songs and the termination of ridiclous rap songs, YAY!!!\_(ツ)_/¯¯\_(ツ)_/¯¯\_(ツ)_/¯? ~~~**foots**~~~?
TLC deserves to be acknowledged
For what? Only T-Boz could sing!!
You are an idiot who clearly doesn’t know TLC’s catalogue.
Nonetheless, in their heyday TLC grabbed all the awards, they have dozens. It’s nice that finally their counterparts are being recognized now (SWV, XSCAPE, etc)
