Beyond flexing her comedic muscle with Jimmy Fallon for a segment that saw the duo disguised as subway singers (click here to watch that), last night’s episode of ‘The Tonight Show’ saw Christina Aguilera belt out ‘Fall In Line’ – one of many gems found aboard her long-awaited new album, ‘Liberation’ (click here to listen to the album in full).
Backed by a army-like troop, the songbird took vocal flight like only she can with the track, which in single form features Demi Lovato.
Xtina handled this one solo, though, and made sure it counted. Watch her in action after the jump…
Stunning! Vocally and visually.
Having watched Aguilera be glued to a spinning chair for so many years on ‘The Voice,’ the fear for yours truly was that she’d become complacent / inept creatively. Something 2012’s ‘Lotus’ (much as I love and play ‘Your Body’ DAILY) didn’t help.
With this though, she served concept, showmanship, and fire.
It’s anyone’s guess what ‘Liberation’ will do commercially, but we’re really angling for her to push it and push it hard. Comeback’s aren’t always instant (trust that Tina Turner’s 1984 return with ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It’ wasn’t as “blink and she’s slaying again” as the movie would have folk believe). So if it’s a steady reascend for Xtina, then so be it.

She’s a vocal BEAST!!
She did that! This is why we love her. She is incredible at emoting.
I thought it was a good performance, but I don’t really like how her voice gets raspy on the higher notes. I also don’t think this song needed Demi Lovato.
She should have done this at the Billboard Awards. Sooo much better!
I hope she will not only perform „fall in line“ for her promo. Her album has no real singles and she won‘t get any GTS anyway, unfortunately. But she can sell the album as a whole, because overall it‘s a good body of work. If I was her, I would perform different songs on different shows – like twice, Pipe, masochist, deserve. Show em what the album has to offer.
This is the best she’s sounded on this song, and part of that is due to Demi’s absence. The two of them together is overload. Now if we can just get her a new stylist she’ll be back in business.

What the hell is she doing in general? This song at least fits her straining voice. How can Mariah keep looking better, doing better and getting more attention?
Xtina beasted that! While she admittedly has acquired a rougher sound to her high belts, her smooth verse vocals were gorgeous and her chest belts and growls both stunning and incomparable! This assured performance confirmed to me that F.I.L didn’t need Demi tbh, as while Xtina is the superior singer they kind of exist in similar lanes. So having them both competing was overkill as the message of the song is strong enough to be delivered with more subtlety.
FALL IN LINE is the worst song on the album. She should stop performing this song and move on to the something else. Why the F is she not promoting ACCELERATE?! It’s 100 times better and unique!
