Last week saw multiple sources break the news that Maroon 5 will be headlining the 2019 Super Halftime Show.
Naturally, it’s ignited ample debate about the slot and who else would be a slay fit in subsequent years.
One name joining the discussion is none other than Mariah Carey.
TMZ caught up with the diva supreme this week and quizzed her on whether she’d like to perform and her response was interesting.

I think she would do GREAT doing the National Anthem. In terms of a half time performance my answer YES too but only if she features some of the hip-hop artists she has worked with in her long career and a gospel choir. She is a GOD-gifted vocal powerhouse that would need to leave the lip-synching at lazy attitude at home for the gig. Some of the best singers have not done super bowl because they are singers not entertainers.

I do not want to see Mariah Carey being carried around and lip syncing. Now, if they would have got her in the 90s in her prime, Then I would have tuned in for her performance. I see she still got Trey Lorenzo hitting this high notes?

Mariah dance? She doesn’t even walk by herself anymore? She always needs her army of bored dancers to carry her around. Love Mimi and her catalogue, but at the Super Bowl? The Super Bowl is Kind of a Party and the people want to have a good time. Mariah with her catalogue of ballads couldn’t transport this mood and we know she isn’t capable to deliver the more uptempo playlist you suggest
It would definitely be different to have more of a vocalist perform rather than the usual “entertainer.”
I’m all for it if Mariah and her team truly rise to the occasion and step her stage presence all the way up!
Though I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE Mimi, I really do not see it for her. She’s a singer, a great one at that, but not a commanding performer.
Mariah would be great for a big sing along kind of moment.
I could see her opening with It’s Like That and closing with One Sweet Day with B2M.

She’s too much of an awkward, boring performer to perform at the SB. She has no stage presence, lip syncs horribly and don’t get me started on those inconsistent live vocals. Issa NO for me dawg.
As much respect I have For her that would be a hard NO. I’m not interested in watching men in sailor hats two step around her and carry her around while she does the bare minimum.

I love her, but no. Mariah does not belong on a stage, to be honest. As funny and interesting as she is as a character, as boring is she on stage.
Well, what was she supposed to answer? Of course a simple I´d love to. Celine said the same thing last year. Celine would be a much better fit for this becasue at least she comands the stage and is in great shape.
