Ariana Grande Scores 1st US Chart-Topper As ‘Thank U, Next’ Debuts At #1

Ariana Grande has proven that dashing tradition to the side has its rewards.

For despite being in the thick of promotion for current album ‘Sweetener,’ the singer hatched ‘Thank U, Next’ – a butter-smooth jam (not featured on the LP). Lyrically it  addresses her relationship with exes such as Mac Miller and Pete Davidson.

An immediate fan magnet, the track exploded on both streaming and retail formats – landing Ari her first ever #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Despite clocking just six tracking days, ‘Thank U’ amassed a colossal 55.1 million streams, 81,000 digital downloads, and a multi-format radio audience of 11.3 million.

The feat sees the 25-year-old score the first #1 female debut on the Hot 100 since Adele’s ‘Hello’ in 2015.

Prior to ‘Thank U, Next,’ the highest height the songbird has soared to on the tally was #2 with ‘Problem’ in 2016.

Expressing gratitude ahead of the formal reveal of the chart, Grande took to Twitter to say:

Aptly, it was announced last week that she has been named Billboard’s Woman Of The Year.
