The 2001 set, which served as the soundtrack of the movie of the same name, was panned in earnest and ultimately led to the voiding of Carey’s mega-millions contract with then-label Virgin. Its arrival also arrived in tandem with the songbird’s infamous breakdown.
However, in the years that have passed, the album and movie have taken on a cult-like status.
Now, in a unique development, the set has shot into the top 10 of iTunes US. As at writing, it’s currently #8. [UPDATE: It’s risen to #3]
