JoJo Signs Joint Label Deal With Warner Bros

Published: Tuesday 15th Jan 2019 by Sam

JoJo delighted her legion of loyal fans last month when she re-recorded and released her first and second studio albums.

The songbird’s much publicised legal wrangle with her former label saw the projects (2004’s self-titled set and 2006’s ‘The High Road’) unavailable on digital retail and streaming services.

A wrong, she says, hat she felt compelled to make right.

In a new interview, she expanded on the lengthy process of piecing together the surprise releases. Perhaps most excitingly, though, she also opened up about her next musical chapter – which includes a brand new label deal.

Speaking with Billboard, Jo explained that, beyond angling for a release of her ‘Agape’ mixtape on streaming services too, she’s all about newness. She said:

I really just want to focus on the future. Moving forward with my own label that I’ve started, Clover Music, which is a joint venture with Warner Bros. Records, I just want to feel powerful. I needed to make a boss move, and that’s really what that was about. I’m not in any rush on my next record, because my fans deserve the best — and so do I. I’ve already been writing so much, and we’re going to keep chipping away until I have an album where everything feels right. It’s really about newness in 2019.

Some may recall that Jo initially announced her imprint as being housed at Interscope in 2017. But, we hear there’s very understandable and exciting logic attached to the Warner move.

In any case, with her being more liberated than ever, we’re oh so buzzed about what’s to come.

Her talent is undeniable and her story is the definition of compelling. More power to her!
