Her 2018 may have been crowned the most controversial year of her career to date (as we reported here), but thanks to good news from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) it looks like 2019’s kicking off on the right foot for Nicki Minaj.
Despite being greeted by mixed reviews and her worst commercial performance to date, Nicki Minaj‘s fourth album, ‘Queen’ (released August 2018), managed to skate past the RIAA’s platinum certification threshold just two months after its release (as we reported here).
Three months later, as those reported units have been officially certified by the association, an announcement was delivered declaring the set’s been deemed a platinum seller (January 11).
Congratz are certainly due to the Harajuku Barbie! The feat places her one step closer to tying Missy Elliott‘s record for “most platinum certified LPs among female rappers.” Currently, Elliott reigns with 5.
