Ed Sheeran has been accused of plagiarism again.

Full story below…

After he was forced to credit the geniuses behind TLC’s ‘No Scrubs’ for their contributions to his smash ‘Shape of You’, Sheeran has learned that a judge believes he may have ripped off a Marvin Gaye classic to create ‘Thinking out Loud.’

The lawsuit was filed by the estate of the late producer Ed Townsend (who co-wrote ‘Let’s Get it On’) who say they have good reason to believe Sheeran bit the cut.

The BBC reports…

In his decision released on Thursday, District Judge Louis Stanton said a jury should decide.

He said he found “substantial similarities between several of the two works’ musical elements”.Judge Stanton said the similarities between the two songs included their bass lines and percussion and said listeners might consider the songs’ “aesthetic appeal” to be similar.

The case will be tried in court.

Wow what a way to start the new year off Ed.

I can’t believe this is just now a thing. The first time I heard the song I figured Sheeran had paid the Gaye’s for the use of the melody. I hate Sheerans music cause so much of it comes off as derivative and uninspired.

Ouch, he’s going to feel that in his wallet now.
