Despite earning critical and commercial acclaim for the five studio albums to her credit (by the time of the 2019 Grammy nominations’ unveiling), Ariana Grande‘s claim to fame at that point with the Recording Academy had only been boasting the title ‘nominee.’
That changed tonight (February 10) when the 25-year-old took home honors for Best Pop Vocal Album at the 61st Grammy Awards for work found aboard her fourth LP, 2018’s ‘Sweetener.’
Sweet news inside:
Beating out albums by Camila Cabello (Camila), Kelly Clarkson (Meaning of Life), Shawn Mendes (Shawn Mendes), P!nk (Beautiful Trauma), and Taylor Swift (reputation), the ‘thank u next’ singer – thanks to ongoing beef with the ceremony’s producer (as we reported here) – was not in attendance to accept the award.
However, she did offer thanks via a series of tweets (as seen below):
I think y’all mean Congratulations to Tori Kelly, HER, Daniel Caesar, Ella Mai, etc. on their first Grammy wins. And Tori got 2 Grammys, (even though I think Jonathan Mcrenolds should’ve won one of them). But still congrats.
And Congrats to Gaga! And to Beyoncé. Honestly, That record is as good as hers. She has 23 now and will absolutely get 4 more before she retires. It’s inevitable.
ungrateful b***h
and for a sh*t album too
She’s already said “thank you next” to that album and has released its generic follow up 5 months after. Who gets a Grammy for an abandoned album?
I mean congratulations to all the winners…
Lol took a stand then regretted it.
Sweetner is her best body of work and yet she and her retarded stans cant see that. She owes Phrelle ungrateful b****.
This is a popularity grammy. There were other better pop albums.
Ironic the album she neglected the most and promoted the least won a Grammy lol
