R. Kelly is officially in police custody.
The embattled R&B singer turned himself into Chicago authorities after being charged with a colossal 10 counts of aggravated sexual abuse against four accusers – three of whom were allegedly minors at the time.
Watch the moment below…
Flanked by a bevy of bodyguards, the 52-year-old singer arrived late Friday night.
The following statement was issued shortly after by CPD’s Chief Communications Officer Anthony Guglielmi:
“Singer/songwriter Robert Kelly (R. Kelly) is under arrest and in
#ChicagoPolice custody in reference to the indictment announced by Cook County state’s Attorney Kimberly Foxx. The defendant will appear in court tomorrow afternoon. For clarification on the CPD arrest process: Mr. Kelly will be fingerprinted, photographed & processed tonight. He will remain in Chicago police custody. [Saturday] morning he will take a prisoner transport to Court where custody will be transferred to the Sheriff of Cook County.”
The development comes after Kelly’s conduct came under scrutiny following last month’s broadcast of ‘Surviving R. Kelly’ – a docu-series which saw countless women allege harrowing abuse at the hands of the self-ordained Pied Piper.
