Diana Ross Celebrates 75th Birthday With Career-Spanning Documentary

Published: Monday 25th Mar 2019 by Sam

As careers go, few are as colossal or illustrious as that of Diana Ross.

A Supreme, a Boss, and a matriarch, the legend has spent over six decades in the spotlight.

Now, as she celebrates her 75th birthday, her fascinating narrative is chronicled in a rivetting new documentary.

And it’s coming to UK cinemas for one-day only (March 26th).

Christened ‘Diana Ross: Her Life, Love, & Legacy,’ the feature film provides personal insights into the highs, lows, and challenges experienced by one of music’s most iconic figures.

Narrated by her children (including actress Tracee Ellis Ross and singer son Evan), the flick sews together intimate portraits of a life like no other against the backdrop of her critically acclaimed 1983 Central Park concert special.

Much like Ross’ life at large, the show attracted the masses (an estimated 1.2 million). However, it was rocked by adverse weather when the skies opened and rain showered down.

While that would cause chaos for even the most seasoned of performers, the diva’s triumphant embrace of the elements  and commitment to completing the concert has rendered the show (which she returned to fulfil the following day) one of music’s most memorable.

In many ways, it serves as a fitting metaphor for the singer’s personal and professional life. Destined for greatness, rocked by hurdles, and yet triumphant by way of zeal, determination, and drive.
