Despite blessing fans with a collage of mixtapes, EPs, guest appearances, and standalone singles over the past decade, a whopping 13 years stand between fans of rap Queen Lil Kim and a new studio album. But, as she recently revealed in an interview with Hot 97’s Funk Flex, that is set to change…and soon.
Details inside:
In addition to rocking Atlantic City in concert (as can be seen by clicking here), Kim took to Hot 97 on the anniversary of Biggie’s murder (March 9) to discuss the rap icon’s impact on her life, the creation of Junior M.A.F.I.A., reuniting with the group for a tribute to the late rap legend, her new album, and much more.
As fans know, years of tension between the Grammy winner and her former group mates Junior M.A.F.I.A. brewed in part after the group’s frontman – Lil Cease – testified against her in the now infamous 2005 trial that saw her fined and jailed for the act of perjury. Despite the longtime bad blood, the Hip Hop composite is set to reunite in honor of their late friend, Biggie, on or near what would’ve been his 47th birthday (May 21).
In addition to their soon-to-be headline grabbing tribute, Kim dropped tidbits about her long-awaited new album. Unclear at present if it will contain her latest singles, ‘Nasty One’ and ‘Go Awff’ (click here to listen), but what is clear is the project will be titled, ‘Nine.’
Fans and Lil Kim enthusiasts believe the significance of the number 9 in the rapper’s career stems from Biggie’s death (March 9) and the birth of her daughter Royal Reign (June 9).
