Over the course of Madonna‘s illustrious career, the superstar has been a fierce and fervent supporter of the LGBTQ community.
As such, it’s fitting that the Pop queen was presented with the Advocate For Change honor at the 30th annual GLAAD Media Awards in New York tonight.
Head below to see for more on her acceptance speech…
Hitting the stage to rousing applause, she referenced an early connection to the
“Growing up I always felt like an outsider, like I didn’t fit in. It wasn’t because I didn’t shave under my armpits, I just didn’t fit in.”
She went on to add:
“The first gay man I ever met was named Christopher Flynn. He was my ballet teacher in high school and he was the first person that believed in me. That made me feel special as a dancer, as an artist and as a human being. I know this sounds trivial and superficial but he was the first man to tell me that I was beautiful.”
The award comes during an action-packed window for Madge, who has launched a colossal campaign for new album ‘Madame X’ (June 14th).
Congrats Queen Madge
She wearing Michael Jackson costumes now?
I thought that too until someone posted the 1987 cover of her “You Can Dance” remix album and it’s almost identical to that outfit
Thanks Seth. I checked out the You Can Dance remix album and I do not see the similarity. That outfit was more Mexican influenced and feminine. Maybe she is paying Michael Jackson homage here in her own way.

I just felt like leaving this legendary performance here. Whether you like it or not she conquered with hard work and real appeal. She pushed bounderies
I just watched Whitney´s docu “Can I be me” today for the first time. I feel so sad right now. Such legendary natural talent wasted in the end by insecurities, bad environments since birth and loving nature that always wanted to give, but didn´t receive what she needed. I had never geard about Whitney´s bodyguard trying to do something to save her but nobody wanted to do anything. That has truly surprised me. And once again all I got was good vibes from real friend Robyn.
Watch Whitney (2018) as well if you haven’t! ?
The Queen Of Pop! ???
I had totally forgotten there has been two acclaimed docus about Whitney. When this one ended I remembered there was buzz about a possible child abuse and I realized I had seen none of that in “Can I be Me”. I have to watch that other one too then. Overall, even though it was not about Whitney´s talent, I think Can I be me and pretty realistic, real and warm. Whitney definitely is depicted as she was in that one imo. The absurd tv shows are just disgraceful, just invented scenes that never happened in real life like that. Robyn was such a good friend I can´t believe it if my Whitney suffered so much (among other things) because of not being able to express her love for women (I know she loved men, that´s for sure, but it´s very probably she liked women too, at least Robyn). Bobby did hurt her so badly in many ways even if he´ snot the evill bissh we thought he was 20 years ago. But he still did no good to Whitney. She clearly gave and sacrificed way more, while he was anass so many times, including to Robyn. Proof is Whitney never recovered and he quickly married again and had more children. She was just a loving person, and the time the thing needed intervention (1994-95) for it to not scalate, like her bodyguard said, nobody helped.
congratz to her.
