Pink may be in the midst of a two-year tour for 2017’s ‘Beautiful Trauma,’ but she’s just dropped a new album in the form of ‘Hurts 2B Human.’
Led by international hit ‘Walk Me Home,’ the set features contributions from the likes of Khalid and Chris Stapleton and is being hailed for being one of the singer’s strongest efforts in recent years.
And while it’s delivering on the critical front, attention now turns to its commercial performance.
Well, wonder no more because the first week forecasts are in…
According to Hits Daily Double, ‘Hurts’ is on course to open with:
99,000-106,000
[Sales Plus Streaming]
************
85,000-90,000
[Pure Sales]
*********
The numbers put Pink in contention for a #2 debut on the Billboard 200; she’s currently battling out with ‘Hillsong United’ from the Hillsong Church (which is eyeing a 110k-120k opening).
Though commendable in the current climate, the figure pales in comparison to the 408,000 premiere of ‘Beautiful Trauma’ (a career best for Pink at the time). That project benefited from a tour ticket bundle. Ironically for the tour she’s presently on.
That said, the star’s career holistically hasn’t ever followed a specific trajectory. So it’s anyone’s guess where this LP will end up by the climax of its narrative. Because, listening to it, she certainly has a few clear single options (see: title track, ’90 Days,’ ‘Love Me Anyway’). All of which could give the album legs.
