This week brought with it the release of Madonna‘s 14th studio album ‘Madame X.’
Despite today’s era of surprise drops, the Pop royal opted for a semi-traditional roll-out, working the project for a number of months and supporting with a series of videos and high-profile performances.
One unanticipated aspect of the campaign was the worldwide theater tour the arena-packer announced.
Many assumed the 60-year-old would embrace stadiums, as she certainly has the clout to and would benefit from the increasingly popular bundling method that’s helped many a major name triumph on the charts.
While she’s did indeed package tickets with the LP, the scale of the tour (or lackthere-of) left many wondering what those first week sales would look like.

Agreed. I think Madonna, Janet, Mariah and a few others are only competing with themselves at this point. No doubt the climate and scale has changed but they’ve done everything hitmaker of today are doing and actually exceeded because their influence is seen beyond their own themselves and their generations. You really can’t call there project flops at this point.

These are great numbers for her to not have a huge radio hit. And it is really great for this climate. Great stuff here. And the ticket bundle thing is limited because it’s not a huge bundle. She’s outselling a lot of newer artists.

When you have multiple Madonna albums in your collection and have seen her roll out culturally impacting era after era – it would be LIE to say this is a good Album.
Confessions was her peak and on albums after that she had some gems (Girl Gone Wild, Candy Shop, Best Goes On, Livin‘ For Love) but this album tried to chase trends so badly instead of focusing on well written and executed song concepts that it ended up coming across trying approximate too hard to be current – ending up in incohesive mess.
Yes the fans bought it – but let’s not pretend they bought it because it’s a good body of work. Madonna is fortunate enough to have die hard fans who will buy her albums just so they can sing along to them at her By her standards (Ray of Light, Confessions) this album is simply sub standard. #facts.

I beg to differ. I’ve been a fan since the Blonde Ambition tour and I say this is her best body of work since the Confessions album. My only problem with it is she chose the weakest songs as lead singles.
I think Madam X is a brilliant album. I wasent expecting streaming to do her any favors as she dosent have a large number on that. It is a pity it hasn’t generated a major hit as I think there would have been a few had it been a different artist. Love to see her get 1 on Billboard’s charts ,she missed out with Rebel Heart due to streaming.

This is apparently her last album with Interscope Records. She signed a three-album deal with them. Seems like its the one with the most creative freedom and very experimental with all that Latin fusion in it. Wish she’d asked Cardi B for a collab..

i loved so much of Madonnas older songs . They made me feel the music she has in her as an artist . Im definitly not putting her down – i notice she made a change. Its just not my style this tour. I was exited to buy tickets with my daughter although i decided to sit this out. I was disappointed with madame x. I liked the lively kind this time just not for me. Was disappointed i couldnt go with my daughter who lives in Chicago
