Rick Ross Admits Drug Abuse Led To His Seizures, 2018 Near Death Experience

Published: Sunday 1st Sep 2019 by Rashad

As we previously reported, September 3rd marks the release date of ‘Hurricanes’ – the memoir of Miami-based rapper Rick Ross.

Beyond detailing his troubled childhood and meteoric rise to the heights of Hip Hop fame, the 43-year-old’s tell-all is set to address some of the more controversial aspects of his life – namely his battles with depression, weight, and drugs.  Although reported at the time as “complications related to pneumonia,” the latter was speculated as the cause of his highly publicized hospitalizations over the past decade.  At the time the incidents dominated headlines and ignited rumors the Bawse was on life support and near death (click here to read).

Healthier now, Ricky Rozay is ready to use his story as a cautionary tale for those following in his footsteps.  Details inside:

In 2011 (click here to read) and 2018 (click here to read), Ross suffered violent seizures that left him unresponsive and, as some reported, presumed dead.  Those episodes were the inspiration behind the writing of the memoir the ‘Hustlin’ hitmaker revealed recently.

When I woke up in the hospital and I had so many people around me, so many homies, it felt like I was in V.I.P. or some s***. But it was more like ‘D***, we gotta do some special things.’”

Although there were rumors the rapper had suffered a heart attack during one of those hospitalizations, he uses the memoir to refute the claims and blames not listening to doctors, drinking alcohol, and consuming the drug codeine for the health failures:

““I went I don’t know how long without taking the medication to prove to myself ‘I’m stronger than these other people this s*** was diagnosed for. That mixed with the things I was drinking, the other drugs I was doing, and on top of not resting. [I don’t think] one particular thing would have killed me, but everything combined.”

With the codeine habit kicked, Ross reports he’s living a healthier lifestyle these days:

“I cut the sodas out and I drink a lot more water. That, adding in some vegetables and I get a lot more rest.”
